When Gretchen intervened to stop Ellison's beat-down from the gang members, are they the same guys she talked to about the boy in a previous episode? They specifically showed that scene in the "previously" recap. If so, you'd think the Latino gang leader would actually like Gretchen, or feel he at least 'owes' her a favor. Ever since that first scene happened, with her helping the boy, I thought it would be an interesting dynamic if Gretchen ended up in a sort of uneasy relationship with the Latinos similar to the one that Ellison has with the other gang.

Also, I really, really hope that John comes clean to Sam and tells her the whole truth. I sort of 'called it' in the beginning that she'd end up on his side. Same with John's dad. And being a Kevin Tighe fan, I'm looking forward to next week. Hope things don't end badly for him. 

Gretchen (not Rachel) dealt with the gang leader who visited the guy at the hospital and that was the conversation that the other doctor overheard. The guys that jumped John were different guys.

Yikes, you're right, it's Gretchen, don't know what I was thinking.  I'll edit my original post to correct her name.

Okay, so the ones who beat up John weren't the same ones Gretchen "met" in the previous episode. I thought they might have at least recognized her though. I thought she earned a bit of respect from them. Guess not anymore, though. 
