Great Blu-Ray release, lots of special features!

When I learned the other day that Best Buy was selling MOTOE in 4K for only $16.99, I immediately went to pick it up. As soon as I saw the sticker on the cover that said “Over 2 Hours of Killer Extras” I was like, Sold! After all, that’s the main reason I am buying discs these days, for the extra content. I love that stuff.

Over the past three days, I watched the movie. Then I watched it again with the commentary by Ken Branagh and screenwriter Michael Green.

Then I watched all the extras, including:

All Aboard: Filming Murder on the Orient Express – A solid 16-minute behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film.

The Art of Murder – Another featurette that delves into the film’s production, focusing mostly on how sets were constructed, how the film was shot and wardrobe considerations.

Agatha Christie: An Intimate Portrait – A nearly 20-minute look at Christie’s life and work as well as how her work has impacted those involved with this film.

Let’s Talk About Hercule Poirot – A look at Hercule Poirot.

Unusual Suspects – A three-part look (totaling about 16 minutes) at the various characters in the story and the actors who play them.

Music of Murder – A seven-minute featurette on composer Patrick Doyle’s musical contribution.

Deleted Scenes – About 17 minutes worth of deleted and extended scenes, available both with and without commentary from Branagh and Green. It’s an interesting look at what could have been.

Gallery – Just as it sounds, a still-image gallery of behind-the-scenes photos.

I have to give credit to 20th Century Fox for not just rushing out a barebones release and actually putting the time and effort into including a solid set of extras that give you real insight into the film and its production.

Highly recommended for any fans of the movie.
