Confused about the ending (spoilers)

After Samba and Jonas jump into the lake we hear that Samba might have drowned. He later shows up alive, suggesting it was Jonas who died. But now Samba's in trouble and needs to leave town. So he boards a bus with his uncle. Alice calls him, insisting he'd take Jonas'identity. He then nods at his uncle, as if he has decided to stay.

Next thing we know, he's back at the restaurant working as a chef. So what happened? Did he leave and come back or did he stay? How could he escape prosecution if he decided to stay? How did he get to work at the restaurant again and why is he a chef all of the sudden? Does he have a legitimate ID now? And what happened to his uncle?

It's a good movie, but it seems to build up a lot of tension near the end, only to have a completely ambiguous conclusion. It was really unsatisfying,I didn't know what to think of it. Did I miss anything?

He stayed and With the real id he could get a real job

You remember, after he and his friend bought that cheap chinese ID's? He tried to get that job in the kitchen, and that woman told him: come back after you got a real ID.
So, I guess he did. So, yes, he stayed, and took Jonas identity.

Not very clear what happend to his uncle. Did he stayed in the bus? Or did he got out as well? They don't show that. Why did he got in the bus in the first place? Because he was in trouble too? (lending his ID to Samba?) Or just to stay together with Samba?
In the first case, well, that is not a very big criminal act. In the second case, I must assume that the uncle got out too.

I missed the tension too. But this movie is not a thriller. It is a romantic drama.

Tanks.

I guess that my main issue with this film is that it has too many subplots. It works really well as a romantic drama. But like I said, it builds up a lot of tension which in the end seems unnecessary. I liked Jonas as a character, but maybe the movie would've been more focussed if he had been written out. Well, that's just my opinion.

I agree
The movie had too many subplots and the turn came to late
I didnt buy the love chemistry between Samba and Alice either

It's not a story of young love. The two characters are entering middle-age and running out of options. Neither has had a partner in a long time.
As for Samba, I concluded that he had used the false id to get a job, which explains his momentary lapse when the horse guard officer asks his name. He's not working at a fine dining establishment, but he has a job as a chef with responsibility, and he's finally on an ascending path.

I think the uncle was leaving because he had lost his job and think he felt he had no reason to stay in France. I'm not really sure.
