Really hard to tell boys from girls

More like an artificially created 3rd gender (remember the ship only has several hundred thousand people in it, and, simply put, people die a lot), you can see it being displayed blatantly almost from the getgo... just look at the names of the photosynthesis rooms the different characters walk out of.


edit: Going back and looking at the actual artwork off the show with this topic in mind I noticed that although the uniforms are very similar, esp between the third gender (Izana) and the females there are noticeable differences. The males wear a jacket with pants that can be described as knee-britches with knee high boots, the females wear a tunic style jacket with black tights/leggings and thigh high boots, the third gender (or at the least Izana) wear what appears to be a romper or a combo of jacket and shorts along with black tights and knee high boots.
