Marschall's section is absolutely awful

I mean, it's horrendous. After the simple, brilliant horror of Buttgereit's section, and then the blunt yet effective thrust of Kosakowski's section comes a poorly acted, shoddily filmed, boring, uninspired body horror movie that looks like every other sub-par Lovecraft/Cronenberg rip off. Eugh.

I aren't think that.

Ehhhh... you are probably not german. I think Marschalls segment was the best, mainly for 2 reasons. First of all it was the only segment that really embodied a supernatural unknown sense of horror. And second because it build up a story (not the best one though).

Buttgereits segment was well done but boring as hell, I could totally understand if anyone walked out on the movie. No real story, simple setting, awful actress. It was absolutely well directed but had no such thing as a moment that really grabbed the viewers attention.

Kosakowski's episode was somehow even worse. Of course it was a nice twist at the end but it had no story at all. Deaf people running through old houses and places like 5 year old children, getting caught and beaten up. It was a snuff/splatter thing trying to look better as it is.

ALRAUNE however worked on all levels, the only thing that bothered me was the fact that they choose to have an american protagonist.
