Life is sad.

I wasn't expecting this movie to get to me, but I was in pieces by the time it was over (leave it to Studio Ghibli). I just thought it was such a quiet, well done movie and completely unforgettable. Of course, I recommend the original language version over the English dub.

I can't really say it's a "kid's" movie because of how heavy it is, but maybe they treat their kids with more respect and weight in Japan. I know that smart, lonely, introverted kids will "get" it.

So many great, heartfelt animated features in the past year or so. Anomalisa, Inside Out, The Little Prince, The Peanuts Movie, Stand By Me Doraemon and now this.

I agree that this isn't really a kids film. I think it's a very difficulty movie to market, which is why it didn't perform well.
It is great though, it made me tear up.

IT didn't make me cry.

I hope that there is an Evangelion video game where you can beat Asuka up!

Good question! If you look at IMDB_Vits' posting history, you'll see that they habitually post in green. Whenever I see posts in green I think of the green ink brigade:

It means that I thought it was well made, but I didn't enjoy it on a personal level.
