What aspect ratio was this shot in?

Was this always supposed to be 2.35:1? Or was it shot in 16:9 then black bars added to the top and bottom? Because literally the top of everyone's head is chopped off by the bars. Sometimes the character talking is just shown from the shoulders down and it makes no sense.

I've heard of other movies being shot in the 16:9 aspect ratio but due to random reasons (boom mins being in the shot, to make it look more professional, etc) fake black bars are added to the top and bottom to make it look like its 2.35:1.

Anyone know for sure with this one? My money is on it being shot to fill up a whole widescreen TV, but then they added the bars in post. Either that or whoever shot this movie needs to never work again...

I was thinking the same thing when watching this movie, and I think it just had terrible cinematography. The compositions were bad and the cinematographer had no concept of framing.

The blueray actually runs in 16:9 with black bars baked into the video itself.
