Black&White Vision as opposed to the NVG in the tunnels

Does anyone have any information as to what the super clear black and white looking spectrum the movie was shot in for part of the time they were moving toward/in the tunnels near the end of the movie. This is opposed to the green NVG they also used. I've seen it in video games and I'm curious to what it is as it's SOOO much better. It would clearly provide a huge tactical advantage.

Thanks!

It's a head mounted infrared device.
While it is kick ass to spot heat signatures (duh), it kinda sucks when it is about terrain navigation/depth perception.
But then again, night vision isn't great for that either...

I don't have access to the film right now. Was it kist flir night vision?

FLIR, yes. You can't have both at the same time (you can have both functions in one device but not used simultaneously I mean).

It's newer night vision technology utilizing white phosphorus. The black and white indicates it's based on ATN's white phosphorus technology. Still Gen 3 but is a massive improvement in terms of depth perception.

Why white though. That would cause the eye's pupil to clinch up. If you have to remove it your eyes will have to take time to readjust where as with green night vision thats not as much of a problem. Its one of the reasons we use green in night vision technology. The other being that the retina is more sensative to intensities changes in the green spectrum.

White phosphor NV enhances overall object recognition while providing contrast sensitivity equivalent to or better than traditional green phosphor image tubes.

I think the SEALs know what they're doing when it comes to cutting edge NV technology.

According to IMDb trivia page, "The thermal vision shots were filmed with a FLIR SC8300 thermal vision camera; they were not added in post-production."
