So much dramatic music over cars driving

Reminded me of Jason Bourne, where there's a ton of dramatic music playing as people just walk around. This movie did the same thing but with driving instead.

My main problem with this film was.. the main character is not actually the main character.

I feel like the writer or writers really wanted to tell the story of Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro's characters, but they were like "Hey, instead of just showing them get together, discuss their plot, put together their team, etc, let's just put this other character in who has no idea what's going on, so that everything will seem really mysterious and ominous and we can just reveal the story slowly as we go along."

So they wrote in this completely uninteresting woman as the main character who then follows around the actual main characters, whose story the writers were clearly more interested in. Emily Blunt's character just seemed like an obfuscation plot device, an afterthought tacked onto the front of the film, with Emily Blunt doing everything she can to make her seem real, but the character's so thin that there's ultimately not much she can do.

Anyone else felt the same way? Or completely disagree?

This really hurt the film for me. I kinda liked a lot about this film, but using her character in that way left a bad taste in my mouth.

The greatest trick God ever pulled was convincing the world that He's good.

Agreed. This movie would have been 10x better Emily Blunt just been a minor role. She didnt need to be the main character.

Totally agree. She was just blah in this role.

I completely agree, although I'm saddened that other people would reduce your argument to a "that character was boring" trope. Your observations of the movie are true but not a matter of whether it was boring or not!
