Persona?

It's been far too long since I've last seen Ingmar Bergman's classic, "Persona", so it could be that my memory is faulty, but it's the first film that "Sun Choke" brought to mind; Bergman's influence is undeniable, IMO.

Can't say enough good things about "Sun Choke" even if it's destined to receive the usual slew of empty negatives from all those who are convinced that every single film must cater to their specific taste, or else 'suck'!

Ignorance is bliss... 'til it posts on the Internet, then, it's annoying.

I thought of that too. It's not quite as maddeningly subtle and ambiguous - nor as profound - as 'Persona,' but sort of along those lines. Also shades of "Repulsion" in how the protagonist's unraveling psyche culminates with outbursts of violence.

Add more than a dash of Dogtooth worship and I 100% agree!

Comparing "Sun Choke" to "Persona" is akin to comparing "Police Academy" to "Serpico"...

Other than to convey your negative feelings toward this film, this is a silly and pointless comment. Drawing parallels between works, or seeing sources of influence, does not a direct comparison make.
Regardless of success, commercial or artistic, anything and anyone can inspire anything or anyone... and vice versa!
