Inspirations and movie references [SPOILERS]
I use the word 'inspiration' consciously. Most of the directors say they were 'inspired' by a movie and included those aspects in their movie but they were clearly 'copying' from those movies. Watching Ulidavaru Kandanthe, I kept going back and forth the movies that I have already watched and loved. Seeing a small part of those movies inscribed in UK, makes me connect with the director *beep* Shetty knowing that he too likes the movies that I do. ;)
So, were you able to spot 'inspirations' from other movies and references to other movies in UK? These are some of the movies that I feel inspired certain aspects of UK:
1. Huge shout out to Pulp Fiction for the 'unknown glowing treasure' that connects the stories together inspiration. More than that, I was mind blown by the reference to Pulp Fiction with that note with the name of the foreign buyer, Marcellus Wallace.
2. Rashomon for the theme of different perspectives narrating the same incident.
3. Vantage Point for 6 different perspectives of the same event.
4. Sin City for the amazing looking stylized violence and black and white shots.
5. Gangs of Wasseypur for the general portrayal of gangsters, names like 'Democracy', music used and songs like 'Paper paper'.
I am sure I must have missed many more of these inspirations and references. Anyone else would like to add to the list?
