Did this movie kill the franchise?

I liked the first Jack Reacher, like most viewers did (I'm not a fan of the books).
I didn't like this steaming pile of crap.
But I still hoped they would continue the franchise with some more interesting investigation for Jack, like the first one.
Did this turd fill the franchise?

I know lots of people complained about Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher (I didn't), and now Amazon is making a series with some of the creators of this franchise involved.
Is that the nail in the coffin for this series of movies?
I wish they made a third one, just to leave on a better note than this one.

reply

I think yes.

reply

It sure did. And this is no franchise. It was a somewhat interesting movie with great marketing followed up with a boring ass sequel. One of the few stumbles in Tom's career.

reply

They were certainly trying to establish a franchise, it s a series formula based on a book series.
I guess they failed, but that was obviously their original intention.

reply

if it was better and made money, it would have been a franchise and a 3rd movie, this movie was just terrible and boring...

reply

I really enjoyed the first one and liked this one fine;the girl IS annoying though.

reply

the earlier one was so much better...

reply

Yes, but they could still manage to get back the goods in a third episode.

reply

possibly... I wouldn't bet against Cruise... he's the only true movie Star left...

reply

I thought it did well. And Cobie was great

reply

Was she? I thought she was average at best, as always.

She's quite the hot woman, never seen her sexy in anything she's ever been in.
She always tries to be a "tough babe", never convincingly (never seen any decent stunt or moves).
She's never charming, nor funny...so how was she great? To oogle at?

reply

It was terrible, I'd never watch another one. For whatever my opinion is worth.

reply

Did you like the first one? I did, if they make a new one as good, I would watch it gladly.

reply

Yeah, I liked the first one. It reminded me of Collateral in its pacing and punch. For those kinds of movie, which I don't normally go for I found it very entertaining.

reply

I think they need to crank up the investigation and the lone man swimming against the system, and keep it small, rather than the action hero saving some little girl (we don't even care about) fighting the CIA etc.

In the opening of this turd, they get the idea with him arresting those corrupted cops.
I wish the whole movie was like that.

Collateral had that similar "I'm a professional, and with my training I can anticipate and deal with shit that regular joes don't even dream of". Although in that one the regular Joe actually cought up.

reply

This movie was just awful

reply

Yes, we know. But the first one was good.

reply

I love the first movie

reply

See? Maybe a third one could fix this turd and the franchise.

reply

Yes it did, and the window is closed for Tom Cruise playing Jack Reacher again. He will be 60 in one year. SIXTY
