Is running the big thing in the United States at the moment?

Or is there some other reason the lead actress is running in almost every other scene. Was she late from her audition and she ran in and the director thought :" Damn....that looks sweet! Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! Not only am I going to cast her but I'm going to have her run in almost every scene because it looks cool!
