A couple of things bothered me

I didn't hate this movie. It was actually kind of interesting. But, a couple of things bothered me.

Once Ellen more or less proved that Marla (the key witness) had given a false testimony, shouldn't the judge have declared a mistrial, or at the very least started a perjury case?

Another funny thing I thought I'd mention; how exactly was Ellen's lawyer planning to sue both her and Ben when he had been the one to assault her (grabbing her arm) and then attempt to attack Ben, who defended himself? It was that point in the movie where I felt it losing its momentum.

The ending was anti-climactic as well.

Marla's testimony was the 'nail in the coffin' for Ellen. All she did in discrediting Marla was she kept the coffin from being nailed shut. Then she hammered away at raising doubts on the other testimonies.

In Marla's mind, she may have believed what she saw, just as she believed Ellen hurt her son at the dentist's office. A perjury trial would have been a waste. If Marla went around boasting she will put that 'tramp' behind bars with her testimony, that might be worth a second look.

But didn't her and Ben prove that there was no possible way for Marla to identify who was in the alley, man or woman? If that's the case, there is NO way she could tell it was Ellen, much less what she was doing. So, in that case, she was lying.

Ellen's lawyer Flynn was a bit of a joke. I don't think he had a realistic chance of successfully suing Ellen and Ben. Especially after Ellen managed to have him disbarred.
