I'm watching it for the second time, and I blame the director, and I still give it three stars. For actors whose names are fairly well known (Danica McKellar of The Wonder Years, Jaleel White from that 90s sitcom where he played the nerd chasing that girl around all the time, and Fred Dryer for gods' sake, of Hunter!) I still expect more of these actors, most especially Fred Dryer who spent the majority of the 80s playing a cop! He of all people should have done a better job in his role in this (another cop!!!). But they all massively failed. No one worse though, than Jaleel White who played the stereotypical SEVENTIES "bad cop." HORRIBLE! Granted, I haven't seen him in anything, I don't think, since that 90s show he was in (and obviously I can't remember the name of it, or I'd use the name), but either playing a nerd is all he's capable of portraying successfully, or the director massively failed to get these actors to do a competent job in their roles, because all three of these actors should be capable of a competent performance, and they just don't in this. It's as if the director was after sub-par performances.
The whole movie is just incredibly disappointing.

I think the writer and the director should have watched some of the episodes of "Hunter" so they could of had a better idea what a detective does, because these detective characters were not very objective.
I wouldn't be surprised if Fred Dryer had a discussion with the writer and director, pointing out that these characters would not act that way.
