So ignorant of her rights

Yet another train wreck I had to watch, just to see how bad it would get - I am ashamed that Danica wanted to be in a movie so badly that she did this. She is an intelligent woman and she portrayed such a STUPID character - it was painful. How can one be so unaware of their rights? Especially in this age of police power, and I agree with whomever stated that Lifetime is portraying police as being absolutely stupid and inept as well - but they are also portraying these characters as totally clueless when it comes to their rights. I would be disgusted if a woman I knew bent over like she did and played stupid to a couple of local cops and ended up hauled in to jail. Oy. Of course the husband is also totally suspicious, the way he barely utters three words and has no personality - so she is also guilty of marrying a zombie. I suspect he is involved. I can't get past the half way mark. Bad, bad movie. Lolol

I'm about 3/4 into the movie and barely holding on. I've come this far, may as well finish it. Halfway through I was expecting everyone to start laughing and tell her it was a big joke.
I guess it would be better if the lead actress were more believable in the part.

Knock if off Napolean make yourself a dang quesadil-la!

Very true. Also a person cannot be given a bail of $500K without first having gone before a judge at an arraignment hearing. Plus that is quite high for a first offense. She would most likely have been released on her own recognisance They must not have had very good legal help while doing this movie.

It does seem a bit strange that she didn't know her rights. Being as she later conducted her own defence. Some knowledge of the law was needed for that surely.

Yeah, considering that she was supposed to be a cop's wife, it does seem implausible that she would not understand her rights. I had mixed feelings when she first let the two "detectives" (and I use that term loosely) into her home. On the one hand, I wouldn't have let them in unless they got a warrant first; on the other hand, because she's a cop's wife, I suppose it's possible that she would see nothing wrong with letting fellow officers of her husband in the house without one.

But yeah, when they went to take her in, she should have refused, and once in the police station, she immediately should have said she wanted a lawyer so that no questioning could legally take place without one.

These are things any cop's wife would (or rather, SHOULD) know!

Well, I wouldn't know what my rights are! Innocent people often don't, you know.

reply

Why should innocent people be ignorant of their rights while guilty people should know them? That logic is bananas. Every citizen--guilty or innocent, accused or not--should be knowledgable about the Bill of Rights (at the very least).
