The powers are very similar, but its more like Infamous (2009) in that its present day and you gain 'powers' to control time, where as TimeShift (2007) is a first person shooter with futuristic (post apocalyptic) elements such as tanks.

TimeShift was much better in that you could control time whenever you liked so long as you had energy in the bar (as was the case in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2003)), such stopping time as you moved from cover to cover, but in Quantum Break (2016) you can only reverse time when standing in a predetermined spot when on the time-based puzzles (as it was in Life Is Strange (2015)), and can only stop time whilst in combat. Whilst there are times where every one by the player/enemies are stopped (known as a 'stutter' in the game) this is controlled by the game, the rest of the time in Quantum Break you throw 'time freeze' like a grenade, rather than effecting everything around you as they did in TimeShift.

In a world of modern games Quantum Break also stands out for all the wrong reasons, every time you come across a time-based puzzle in order to progress you have to take a very specific path to get past, there are no alterative routes or strategies, where as TimeShift allowed a greater degree of freedom.
