The Story - spoilers
Let me skip to the part to where you first meet Jeet and on towards the first Gastown story mission, the gap in between felt completely superfluous to the plot of this game. Even the side missions weren't in any way integral to the story. You could say, that, they overall give depth to the atmosphere and life in the wasteland, which I do appreciate, but for the most part they feel like filler to the plot.
Once the story takes you back on the road to find the big chief/ v8 engine, that's where the plot starts to get interesting and become much more brutal. Once you step onto Gastown, and witness a few deaths from Scrotus's hands, revenge for Max is not only sweet to the character, but for the player too. It's only after between that gap from Jeet's territory to Gastown where the player becomes engaged to the story rather than enduring it.
