Awesome Movie but.....

I am from Pakistan and usually I am not fond of Indian movies like other Pakistanis. This happened after series of disappointments and hype of idiotic(commercial) movies like kick and bang bang. I got a perception that Bollywood does good very rarely.
But this time I was happy. This movie was captivating from start to end. I was not able to think about anything else in this world. Stunning work by all of the team members. I congratulate them for such a good job. Well Done!
But, I found many things missing from the movie. I will focus on 2 of them here. Firstly, Shraddha Kapoor failed to do justice with her role. This time she was unable to appear on same level of brilliance as other actors did. She has a lot to learn.
Music, average music. Music contributed nothing to the movie. It could have attracted more people to cinema screens if music was good.
It is an awesome movie and I loved watching it but it is not the best movie of 2014. Right now I can think about "Ek Villain" as the best movie of 2014. Let me know if any other movie fits for the title.

"ek villian" seriously?? That was the dumbest movie I've ever watched. There is no comparison between "haider" and "ek villian". Haider was too good. For me haider is on top.

I would agree with you that Haider is the best Bollywood film of the year thus far. Queen, for me, was overrated. Kangana Ranaut is sublime in it, and she absolutely deserved all the praise she received for her performance. But the film as a whole was nothing especially innovative or fantastic, and I don't think it would have been appreciated half as much if another actress had ended up cast in the role. Ek Villain was ok but it could have been so much better! It had all the right ingredients but mixed the wrong way. And that's what grates. The film starts with a bang, a real punch that immediately unsettles the audience. But instead of building on that suspense and intrigue, it meanders along a drippy redemptive love story instead of the taut, revenge drama it should have given us.

So for my personal ranking, I guess I'd rate Haider number 1, Hasee Toh Phasee a distant second, and Queen 3rd.

Watch other Shakespeare adaptations by Vishal Bharadwaj like Maqbool and Omkara. Maqbool is even better than Haider (in my opinion)

I probably agree with you about Shraddha Kapoor, but music, really?
I believe the music was the beat thing about Haider. So enigmatic, so rock, so fine.

"Queen" is the best Bollywood movie of 2014 so far and will probably remain so. (I do not see any better movie releasing this year now that "Haider" is past.)

Watch other Vishal movies, You will like them even more esp. Maqbool and Omkaara. Also you can give a try to Kaaminey.
I don`t like Shraddha at all, I don`t even know why she gets all these movies. I think Director missed a trick when he could not show her descent into madness. If you watch or read original Hamlet, Ophelia`s descent is pretty convincing but here suddenly cheerful Arshi is gone. In original Hamlet, Ophelia is driven mad by madness of Hamlet. Then things happen and she losses her mind.

Also this movie missed on how Haider losses his mind slowly. But still a decent movie.

And best movie so far for 2014 is Queen. And never watch Sallu, SRK etc , they only do stupid movies.

I don't think Salman and SRK deliberately do films like U said "stupid movies", there is a different kind of pressure/responsibility on them i.e. Box Office as they are Box Office Stars, it is a business, end of the day. They have no choice.

" Ek Villain" best movie of 2014?????????????????? brother, nothing to say on ur judgement. But please dont compare "Haider" with "Ek Villain"... it will be total injustice and disgrace for all the viewers. thank u.
