Psylocke Costume Botched - Granny Panties Swimsuit

I've seen cosplayers with far better & more authentic Psylocke costumes. I guess the Hollywood costume designers weren't up to recreating an authentic costume or making a sexy alternative. The granny panties costume actually makes Olivia Munn, one of the hottest actresses, look drumpy. What were they thinking??

And why the heck didn't they recreate Archangel as he appears in the comics?? This version looks terrible, like some dumb street punk with wings.

And here I thought she looked lovely - smokin’ hot actually! :D But funny, I thought her suit was pretty close to being comic accurate. It might’ve not been as latex-y as it is in the comic, although compared to what many of the X-Men in this franchise have wore, her look was definitely closer to her comic counterpart.

I guess it just wasn’t as revealing and, again, latex-y as some would have liked. :/ But while it arguably isn’t the case here, many times what works in the comics doesn’t translate so well onto the screen. Olivia looked great here.

As for Archangel? I wouldn’t say he was portrayed terribly (acting wise), but... something certainly didn’t feel right. At all.

Do you even know what "granny panties" are? Apparently not. Olivia was jaw-dropping throughout this movie.

As far as the thong -- i.e. butt floss -- that Psylocke cosplayers are known to wear, it wouldn't work in a serious live-action X-Men movie. It'd be absurd, even laughable. The costume designers did it right.

The people who made the X-Men movies made the right decision from the get-go, which was to scrap the colorful or fantastical costumes that can be seen in the comics. They look ridiculous onscreen, and some of them are seriously impractical, or physically impossible.

Why they chose to make an exception for Psylocke, I'll never know.

reply

Because they want to move to more colorful, more comic accurate costumes just like The Avengers. What studio doesn't want to print money like Disney's Marvel?

reply

You're exactly right! Why didn't I think of that!

They may also have noticed that Marvel isnt giving their viewers a lot of hot babes in minimal clothing, and hoped to sell a few extra tix that way. Enough to cover the cost of the costume, anyway.

Yeah but I think it was too late for them to pull an Avengers. The black leather uniform is all ready too ingrained in people's brains. In a way, it's iconic.

And I believe it was the right decission at the time the first X-Men was made. It would looked too silly if X-Men wear colorful spandex.

The Avengers came from different backgrounds, so it's okay if the wear different outfits. Most X-Men came from Prof. X School so it would look terrible if they wear random costumes. They would look like a band of misfits than superheroes, Suicide Squad style.
