Nice Drama/Suspense/Horror

Hey.
Saw this movie in a festival today, and enjoyed it. Good drama story told in an horror/suspense context. The photography is beautiful, really enjoyed the use of silences, it added to a more realistic approach to the story, which helped balance the fact that it is light on the visual horror. But I do like inteligent storytelling with strong characters above shock horror so, no problem for me. The main actress was amazing, and carried the weight of the story till the end.
So congratulations to Pau Teixidor , it was good to hear you in the screening, to bad for the short Q&A, blame our national shyness. I would like to ask you though, in case you read this board, the following spoiler question that I didn't have the nerve to ask:

The mirror that the son used to trap the other boy in the other world and come back as him, is connected to the mom since the beggining of the film, when she picked it up from the old house, and then stored in the other room, but seemd to have a misterious connection to that mirror even before she used it in the ritual, and her son used it to trap the other kid in purgatory. Is there a story behind that mirror and the mom ?

Was the festival Motel X, by any chance? I was there too. Unfortunately I cannot say I was all that impressed by the movie.

The acting is excellent from the lead and it builds up some suspense but the kid was so horribly obnoxious that I wonder why she put up with him.

About your question,

I am not entirely sure of this but when we see the son playing with the toy car right before he falls off the balcony that he runs it along the mirror's frame. Maybe that had something to do with it. Also, mirrors in general are very often connected to the idea of a spiritual realm- that was probably why Daniel chose it for the ritual.
