Well that was disappointing.

I hope Mondo and Anya are happy now. I knew Natalia would be going home as soon as she said she should go. I wonder if Asha feels any shame now for the way she treated Natalia.

reply

I hope the whole show is happy for promoting bullying. I'm so disgusted I can barely find words.

reply

glad i'm not imagining things. the scapegoating, disrespecting, and mob-mentality ganging up on Natalia was obnoxious.

really thought i'd like this show even though it's not 'the real' PR, cause i thought anything with Tim would just be worth it no matter what. but each week i am less and less interested, and am starting to actually now be pro-actively irritated by the whole thing.

reply

I too no longer enjoy watching Tim and the other evil step sisters. A mentor trains and assists. A mentor is not vindictive, jealous, nasty, azzhole. Nick is the only "true" mentor on this dumb reality show. Tim is now just a nervous Nellie, too uptight to offer any kind of help. He needs to retire.

Rod...Don't be too hard on Tim. Several seasons ago, Tim had a blog on the Main PROJECT RUNWAY (Lifetime) site. (It was the season with Ivy Higa) He spoke about each episode. He was, as always, TIM, so the blog was dignified and polite. It was also HONEST, in that he alluded to editing to make the episodes more exciting, and how they liked controversial "back stories" for the designers.

Make no mistake...there were "controversial" designers during the BRAVO years: Laura Bennett and Jeffrey Sebelia were as obnoxious and "mouthy" as they come. They were also DESIGNERS and ARTISTS, whose work could grace the METROPOLITAN.

NOW, it's more important to have a "Mentor", whose claim to fame is muu-muus, and being caught on video "playing the pink piccolo".

Tim's wonderful blog was removed after 4 entries and he was essentially muzzled. He still is. Thank G-D, he's there, for TIM GUNN is the only thing left of "Quality, Taste and Style" in the whole Danged FRANCHISE!

Point well taken! I don't like the direction this show has now taken. And I am really disgusted with Mondo and Anya's nasty attitude toward Natalia, especially after everything both of them went thru in past competitions. Tim appears to be accepting the bullying. This is not mentoring, it is harassment.

reply

i'm also sick of their attitude towards nick.

reply

I've just watched the get together show for the last series of Project Runway and Tim Gunn said *beep* to suggestions the show was staged in any way. The contestants apparently had been tweeting about characterisations and the editing that went into it and Tim denied it all vehemently.

Ever think that Tim might be just "mouthing" the Weinstein party line? All I'm saying is that MUCH more is going on behind the scenes than we know about, and genuflecting to the "BEAUTIFUL GEORGINA CHAPMAN" every episode....the way they did in PR ALL STAR, is just the tip of the iceberg.

Joystar, Well, now that you mention it, that does make a whole lot of sense. The direction of this show has gradually changed since it went over to that Lifetime Channel. Ummmm stirring up a little controversy & curtseying to the Mrs. W. Something's afoot I must say..

reply

She doesn't. She keeps saying since last week that she was nice to Natalia and had no reservation expressing all her opinions. I thought after the show they would change opinions but when the show is airing they go right back to the time and the same mode of being. I am so sad Natalia didn't get to show more crazy things as the crank dress. But I had to say, today's dress was not impressive and was boring not just construction wise. Not that Asha was any better. I am so glad I got to see Shan expressing that Natalia has grown the most. I was happy to see Sam say to Natalia that others are underestimating her.

reply

true, wuyuni but that dashiki was AS bad, if not WORSE than Natalia's dress... imho they were equally deserving of the auf.

reply

Yes I did think for a while maybe both will go home. Or both stay because of the impassioned speech.

Totally agree. Her construction was bad, but at least Natalia made something with the dress. Asha's Dashiki was a swath of fabric with some scraps sewn on and a belt tied around.

And yes, the bullying from Asha and Mondo was awful this week. And pretty much everyone last week. They all seem to see Natalia's lack of confidence and decided they had found their punching bag.

Natalia was definitely the bigger person in this whole scenario, but it makes me sad that her maturity seems to have come from a place of, like you said, lack of confidence. She felt so hopeless that defending herself might have any positive outcome (that is, staying in the competition) that she didn't fight for her right to remain and instead asked that Asha might stay so that her Highness would not feel that talentless Natalia torpedoed her chance at 15 minutes of fame.

It does seem like Asha is overall a more well-rounded designer but she should have handled herself with more grace.

reply

Usually I don't care about the drama between designers, but I really felt like Natalia was treated horribly. Most people who get picked on has at least someone to talk to or buddy up with, but with her she was so isolated. I just felt for her. At the start of the show she talked about how she was depressed for awhile and she got back into designing because it made her happy and all. It's probably the best for her to get away from all the negativity though.

I really wish that the judges got to see the character of some of these people on the show.

reply

Yeah usually both on PR and Gunn I would only care about what the challenge is and look at the results but then this time it was hard to tune out. The pain Natalia had to experience just kept coming through the screen. I am sure the other designers think she was being dramatic while they were nice but then why would Nick say the other designers showed such disrespect? I did feel there was less ganging up from Sam today which was redeeming and Shan and Oscar were not shown to be negative. So, that was good.

reply

I loved Natalia she was treated so unfairly. Really what was the problem with her? I saw nothing. Asha was the real fool and loser. Really poorly done. Very disappointed and please get the show back to New York. LA has zero class where fashion is concerned. They probably had to pay those people to come and see the final at the theater.
