Need help with dialogue

The scene where the dad is asking his son to tell him what really happened earlier in the day - where he saw the gun sales going down - the son mutters something but I can't make it out

Yeah, we couldn't make it out either, but having it on DVD I backed it up a few seconds, put on the English subtitles, and there it was ... "I'm going to go to sleep now."

That's all. Why oh why do they do that to audiences? There is no way we could have understoon what he said just by listening.

We heard it, but we have two teens.... so our ears are a bit 'tuned'; however, I have lost my ability to translate 'toddler'.

He said "I'm going to sleep now", then rolled over. The DaD knew something wasn't right, that's why he went to his workplace...
