Did Tyler mess with Kyle's gun? (Spoilers)

That night in the beginning of the movie the implication I got wasTyler messed with Kyle's gun so that it would malfunction or he emptied it or something. Max was awake that night watching what Tyler was doing. But it was never really made clear. Whatever the case Max was TICKED at Tyler, showing that Tyler was in some way responsible for Kyle's death, and Max knew it.

So what did he do exactly? Or not do?
Again it was never made clear what happened exactly. Can anyone offer their take on this?

nah, I think Tyler was drinking that night which they are not allowed to do so was hungover thus why he forced kyle to tell his dog to continue moving instead of assessing the threat...which led to kyle's death..

Tyler wasn't directly responsible for Kyle's death but he wasn't a good guy and Max could sense that, Max didn't trust him and didn't want him around Kyle's family, service dogs are extremely loyal to their handlers.
