So... Justin sent his gf to "go call go help" at the end when his dad was kidnapped by Travis. But, two minutes later, Chuy (chewie, sp?) got a call on his cell phone and they never acknowledged it. I don't get it

Also, the dad tries to disable the bad guys truck by shooting holes in it. He used up all but one bullet and the truck still ran anyway. How come he didn't just open up the hood and tear out the wires? Am I missing something?
