Isnt Emma Laura's REAL mom?

I know Emma was Callie's step mother ( the crazy girl) and Laura was Callies half sister, but doesnt that mean Emma was Lauras REAL mom?

I ask because when Emma was suspicious of Callie being crazy and murdering that guy, she calls Laura on her phone and leaves a message ( bc she is on a flight to China) and she says " Hey Laura, Its Emma, I think something bad is happening" ..... so her daughter calls her by her first name. thats odd. Or was it bc she wasnt her real mom?

No, Emma is just the housekeeper, and apparently the dad's lover. But she wasn't the mother or step-mother of either girl. They never really mention Laura's mother. Laura is the older sister, so I assumed that her mom and and dad divorced and Laura's mom was no longer in the picture. Then he married Callie's mom some time later and they had Callie. After Callie's mom died, he seems to have been romantically involved with Emma the housekeeper, but they weren't married.

Thank you! I actually rewatched the movie as it played again and realized this. I missed the part where that was explained. Thanks! I was so confused.

It's just assumed that Laura's parents divorced when Cali said "at least your mom is alive. Mine's dead"

I thought it was her step mother too as the info on my guide said Callie was plotting to kill her dad, step mother and sis, but when she caught Emma kissing her dad and accused him of having an affair, I figured out she was the housekeeper.

My channel guide said the same thing...I only found out Emma was the housekeeper when Callie was reading the will and it SAID she was the "housekeeper and friend ". I don't think he thought of her as anything else, but of course SHE was in love with HIM and took advantage of his paralyzed state to kiss him .
