It was unusual to add Joanna's death, this film could've initially followed other tropes going into a happy ending, but it still worked highlighting the unexpected events women face with abuse in India

The film up until then had covered almost every female related issue in India vis a vis arranged/forced marriages, homosexuality, career after marriage and children, Eve teasing. But left the most disturbing and brutal one of rapes and gang rapes was left until last. In order to drive home how big of a problem this currently is in India, there could be no punches pulled on highlighting this issue.
