"A random group of people wake up on an Island where they are being hunted down in a sinister plot to harvest their organs."

If the ultimate goal is to harvest organs, why bother kidnapping people, dropping them off on a remote island and then hunting them which could quite possibly end in the destruction of the prized organs which you were supposedly after in the first place? I will admit, I have not seen the film yet but if I'm not missing something here, this might be the stupidest oversight in film history.

That is explained in the movie. The purpose of isolating them on the island is to 'purify' the donors' bodies through fruits & pure island water diet. It seems that hunting the donors are personal preference of the soldiers.

Thanks, Dreaming Owl. I appreciate the answer. Still seems like a pretty thin explanation to get them on the island. And if I were running the operation and heard about the soldiers endangering the merchandise (organs) not to mention the whole operation (possible escape) I'd be livid. Still, like I pointed out before I have not seen the film yet. This is only theoretical talk and perhaps there are more things that I am missing.

Actually, that part of the plot made some sense. Perfect donors were captured and then placed in a holding pen (the nice tropical island) until needed. You have to store them somewhere, right?

SPOILER follows:

Also, the people were not being 'hunted' in the way you may think. They were being captured and then taken to the main island. The hunters only used stun guns in the hunt, and the people were not killed in a hunt. Except for one person who was accidentally injured in a fall, in extreme pain, and 'put down'. Arguably the guy who killed her took some pleasure in it, but she was going to be dead within an hour or two either way.
