Am I the only one who

Felt sorry for Marina? Why couldn't Laura let her join in with her group of friends, give her a make over and buy her a wig or hair piece to make her feel better about herself? They were all so cruel and selfish.

reply

You say this now but just one look at that sick ass FB profile (the older posts she had) you would be running for the hills, Marina needed help not from a friend but from a hospital then again she is a witch in this movie so don't think you can help supernaturalism.

Also, Laura did more than enough for the fact she can't handle to have zero friends on facebook, just means you shouldn't use facebook.

then again this movie had some serious part of the story and "idea" missing so...

reply

She wanted to join in and be a part of the group, especially with Laura because she made a connection with her, but they branded her 'weird' and wouldn't accept her. What a horrible bunch they were.. You're telling me there's no 'emo' kids in schools like Marina? I'm sure a lot of kids go thru this and I feel sad for them. Personally I would've helped Marina and not cut her off like Laura did just cause I had 'cool' friends to hang out with.

reply

Either you're trolling or delusional. It's not Laura's fault (or anyone else's for that matter) that Marina was a psychotic witch. We are all responsible for our own choices. And if you honestly believe that terrorizing and killing people is a rational response to being turned away, then you should probably seek professional help yourself.

reply

Its possible to see bother Laura and Marina as characters deserving sympathy.

reply

I don't believe she wanted to be a witch.
She was into it and well the back story shows those two boys terrorized her and probably sexually assaulted her as well.
She was afraid of people and the only way was to communicate online.
Once someone decided to be her friend she felt like her life was about to begin, her life was so sad and truly disturbing and shared it with Laura.
Once Laura betrayed her trust she knew it was about time to end it, from there she gained the power to terrorize and make Laura lonely.

reply

I guess you missed the part in the movie where the 2 boys that terrorized were found dead with their faces deformed because of wasps (which was said to follow and protect witches).

Therefore, Marina was already a witch and had killed 2 people before she met Laura. There was nothing Laura could do for her.

I bet you're wondering what a place like this is doing in a girl like me-The Mummy

reply

Idk how it is selfish. She tried to be friends with her but she came on way too strong and was forcing herself into her life. Laura didn't know her at all and still tried to be her friend. I felt bad for Laura more than anyone. But this is one of those movies where the bad guy wins. Laura was clearly a very good person. She didn't deserve any of what happened to her. But if she won at the end it would've been another typical horror movie ending. I enjoyed the movie for what it was. There's not much you can do now days that hasn't been done before. If Laura would've made it out in the end it wouldn't have been as climatic and no one would care as much. The fact she lost and was forced to be the new loner girl at school is the only reason anyone would be talking about the ending.

reply

Maybe if she had been friends with Marina and let her join in none of it would've happened.. Marina was lonely all her life (no parents, abused, bullied,an outcast) all she wanted was acceptance. I see the movie as being about karma - the way you treat people ultimately effects the events of your own future..

reply

Marina was way over the top needy, clingy, intrusive and abusive. Within a few days of being friended she is posting 30 posts a minute to her page and messaging non-stop and yelling at her in public.

Either you are a troll or you were spending too much time on your phone to pay attention to the film. Alternatively, if you think that is acceptable behavior you might want to seek some help yourself.

"Nowhere special. Always wanted to go there."

reply

If you think Laura's behaviour was 'acceptable' and nice towards Marina then 'you need help'. 'Troll'. P.s I was watching the movie on my phone and couldn't use my phone for other things FYI ;)

reply

As I say, seek professional help.

reply

Same to you 👍🏻 some people love themselves a bit too much and think they're 'better' than other people just because their lives are 'over priveledged' - disgusting behaviour. Absolutely vile.

reply

In the spirit of the movie I add your trolling or disturbed ass to my ignore list.

reply

Living_fictional, surely you understand that Marina's behaviour in the film was borderline illegal - cyberstalking and harassment are criminal offences and considering the content of the messages Marina was sending her, Laura would likely have a strong case were she to pursue legal action. I can understand why you'd emphasize with her, especially if you relate to the isolation depicted in the movie, but that doesn't change the fact that she crossed some serious boundaries in her interactions with Laura. It's not okay to make someone feel unsafe and uncomfortable - Marina's Facebook page alone was unsettling enough to anyone in their right mind, not evening mentioning the messages. Laura had every right to keep Marina at arm's length. Had Marina taken not come on so strong, Laura wouldn't have had to push her away as she did. Marina needed some serious help from someone who was qualified enough to provide that help - Laura was not. End of.

Yup, that was beyond cringeworthy.

reply

Laura was selfish af - she dumped Marina cause she had 'cooler' friends to hang out with instead of 'the weird girl'. People like that make me sick tbh. I think they all deserved what they got in the end.

reply

You've got to be kidding right? It wasn't that the friends she had were "cooler", she'd rather hang out with them because, drum roll please: they were her best and closest friends! How can you not understand this?

I really don't understand the point of view you are coming from. Do you want people to be forced to be friends with people they don't want to be friends with?

reply

Marina didn't need a make over she looked fine.

However her behavior was obsessive and anyone who remotely requires solitude to function would not be able to endure her.

reply

Laura's friends mocked Marina over her hair pulling cause she was half bald, at the back of her head, did u not see when her hood came down and everyone was staring at her head? Poor girl. All she needed was a confidence boost and some kind friends to help her fit in and feel 'normal'.

reply

As a person who seeks needed solitude, I still would not friend her. I do not choose friends by other friends liking, disliking or if they find each other attractive.

reply

I felt sorry for her the first 20 minutes, when she did suicide. It was obvious she needed psychological help. But she was annoying and possessive I can understand than Laura kicked her off her friends list. I don't know if it was possible for her to talk Marina into making a therapy or so. My compassion for her ended tho when it turned out she was a demonic witch xD

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.

reply

she looks pretty damage from the very start

reply

she was an evil witch. Someone needed to kill her, not be friends with her.

reply

Burn the witch, right?
Missed the point of the movie.

reply

Thank you for your message, I agree.. it's quite scary to think how many cold, cruel, heartless, ignorant, selfish and self-centred individuals there are in this world.. bet they also think (the fictional character) Carrie White deserved to be mocked and have tampons and blood threw over her and that Jesus deserved to be tortured and crucified on the cross.. scary and strange world we live in.

reply

That's one weird comment right there.

reply

Well said.

Yes, everyone should befriend their stalkers, that's a great idea. Get your stalker involved with your friends, too, so they can share the fun of being harassed by someone deeply psychotic, prone to jealousy and with violent tendencies!

reply

I guess most of the people commenting here were or are jocks and popular kids at school. Unless you an introvert or outcast you wouldn't get Marina.
Loneliness and abuse screw you for life.
