Starve: Not a total disaster but still mostly a mess (spoilers)

First, an aside: Thanks Sci-Fi channel for placing this too short movie into a 2 ½ hour slot so that you can show 45 minutes of commercials!

spoiler space...

Why in a movie “allegedly” about starving (it's more about dehumanizing, really) would you cast an actress who makes Taylor Swift look like Jessica Simpson at her chunkiness?

Why are the main two characters so hungry right after being captured? The movie has some issues with conveying time, but they both start complaining about being hungry on what presumably is their first day of captivity.

Why do your lead characters always have to do dumb things to get the plot moving, i.e., the girl being unreasonable to go into the house at first, then leaving the keys in the car when she DOES go in.

Why is the girl able to fight for her life so much better than the female POLICE DETECTIVE who eventually comes looking for them? Actually why is the police detective even still alive after being socked solidly in the front of her skull with a heavy hammer?

How does the girl not only survive being struck fully by an accelerating car, she doesn’t even suffer any visible injuries. She just “walks it off”! LOL!

A couple of things were a little unexpected. The little black girl who shows up first appears that she would play a major role in helping the couple escape. She had a “Roo” vibe from the Hunger Games (ironic), but, ultimately, she has even less impact on the story that Roo did.

And for anyone who was watching, did I mishear the main girl say that she was pregnant? I thought so, but it seemed like this point was dropped, and it would be beyond all belief to think that she would not have lost the pregnancy well before the end of the movie (which would be a pretty shocking point for an otherwise throwaway movie to include).
