Thoughts on how the direction of this one?

Big fan of the Saw movies! Just wanted to get anyone's take on how the story will continue..? I think they might look at this like a reboot with a brand new set of characters but with maybe a couple flashback to jigsaw etc. Might be the only direction they cant do as I read an article saying Leigh Whannel and Cary Elwes are not confirmed for this film.

It say Saw 8 on the poster, so i am not 100 percent on it being a reboot. What? No trailers yet?

reply

I liked the first few then it got ridiculous as they kept finding ways to reintegrate Jigsaw into the story. But I'll definitely watch the new one, especially if it's a reboot. Hope he goes after corrupt bankers and government officials this time.

Yea I thought 4 was poor at the time then the series picked up again. Looking back I think its a pretty good development across the 7 movies. Would like to see him targeting a specific group...what if delinquent children had taken over the jigsaw legacy and start targeting anyone in authority...? could be interesting, almost children of the corn esque!

reply

I don't have a problem with authority... just corrupt leaders. I don't know if children would work, doesn't seem like it would be Saw with that concept.

This will be a soft reboot, meaning Jigsaw's legacy will continue with a new person pulling the strings with all the traps.

reply

I just hope they explain Gordon's absence, and Hoffman (if he died in the bathroom). I'm ok with the soft reboot direction as long as they tie up loose ends.

Sorry I can't really comment cos i saw saw and saw ii and saw iii and saw iv but not saw v nor saw vi though i saw saw vii.

You saw v ('80s tv series)?

reply

Yup, I saw v the original tv series, not the remake. I thought it was so so at the time. (I'm talking about v which I saw and not saw v which I haven't seen)
