cute, but badly photographed

I agree that this movie is cute, and the lead actress is good in the role. Too bad that the photography and lighting are so harsh that they makes her and many of the others unattractive in closeups, of which there are many. I can't understand why Hallmark would do that.
What is with the strange winter stocking caps worn indoors by some characters? As usual, this looks like a Canadian costumer's idea of cuteness--doesn't look like they're in the U.S.
