Worst film I have ever seen at Sundance in the 18 years have attended

I have been attending the Sundance Film Festival for 18 years and this easily goes down as the worst and most miserable film I have ever seen at the festival. Over 30 people walked out of the premier screening. If you hate yourself and feel like you need to be punished, then this movie might be for you.

Yup sounds like an Alverson movie.

I loved The Comedy which caused similar reactions among the viewers.

reply

This actually makes me want to see 1000 times more! Thank-you! So excited!

reply

Looking forward to it!

reply

I must see this film.

PS: "The Comedy" is a criminally overlooked film.

reply

I saw it at Sundance as well. It was incredible. Definitely not for most people, but it felt like a breath of fresh air compared to a lot of the others I saw at Sundance. I can't wait to see it a second and third time.

reply

I'm 99.8% sure you have never heard of Neil Hamburger.

reply

What difference would it make if he had heard of him? Even if a comedian sucks intentionally, he still sucks.

reply

If Tim or Eric is involved it's bad on purpose

reply

I feel bad for you, as you're intentionally closing yourself off from a great subgenre of comedy: Stewart Lee, Brody Stevens, Andy Kaufman, the list goes on. If you watch On Cinema At The Cinema, you'd probably complain that their movie criticism skills were substandard.

Just like I'm closing myself off from a "great" subgenre of music because I don't think John Cage's 4'33" is a work of brilliance. I'll survive.

Andy Kaufman was easily the worst thing about Taxi. It always looked like he was "doing a character" as opposed to acting a role convincingly.

Post of the month!

I couldn't STAND that moron...in 'that' show, or anywhere else.

reply

If it helps, he couldn't stand himself in that show, either.

It makes a huge difference. Most people do not "get" Neil Hamburger's act, so I would expect the same would be true of this movie.

What I wanna know is, what do Neil Hamburger fans think of the movie?

reply

I never heard of him before this film, but I had the opposite reaction. I loved this movie.

reply

Tim and Eric get no love on imdb. Neither does Rick or Gregg.

reply

I didn't think it would be possible to feel less inclined to go see a movie than I did with Birdman. I now stand corrected. I wouldn't walk across the street to see this movie if it was free.

I agree. I am 24 minutes in to watching this piece of crap and I'm turning it off as soon as I post this comment. I have never seen anything so fricking boring. I tried watching Birdman just because of some of the reviews. I fell asleep 3 separate times trying to watch that snoozefest, I gave up.

reply

ive shown ppl birdman after parties when we tend to pass out and their always glued and mesmerized. so stfu lol NOT EVERYONE IS YOU, BROOOooOOOOoooOooOOOH!

reply

I will never, ever trust a Sundance audience.

I'm curious where everyone went after they walked out. A better film? The bar? Up each other's ass?
