Pity the scenery is in the background

I watched the first 3 episodes of this show with mounting disappointment, the makers had a wild and beautiful area that is unknown to most of the world, what an opportunity to put it on show, and all we get is some rather pathetic attempts to show the people along the tracks.

most of them are quoting a script with phoney words in an attempt to show how "tough" they are,... trapped parents without a generator,... freight train catching up to the snow plow.
oh woe is me!
baloney !

It's a typical Reality Series... just like every other one that clogs Cable TV.

I couldn't figure out why they only had one generator. The show mentions how important this generator is and without it they wont have lights, should that be one item that you have a spare?

Because large geni's are ridiculously expensive, and folks who live along the rail belt aren't exactly swimming in dough?
