The episode has the police showing up at the door asking for Ben. That is usually a next of kin visit. Who are they there for? His dad is in the house and he probably would not be Emilie's next of kin (her mom or Nick would be) so is it for his Mom?

I think it must be about the mom also; Wow, what an episode. Amelie really took a beating, and if she survives, I imagine some heavy damage. This show really pulls me in and never fails to deliver. Too bad it doesn't seem to have much of a following (at least on this board). It reminds me a bit of another Canadian favourite of mine- DaVinci's Inquest.

Initially I thought that too, but like the OP said, that is generally brought to the attention of next-of-kin, and I don't know if Ben, as her boyfriend, qualifies just yet. You would think the police would notify Nick, being her brother, or her parents...but Ben? I dunno.
The way the episode is filmed gives you the impression that the cops are there because of Amelie, but I think it is designed to mislead us. Guess we will know tonight!

Under normal circumstances, the police would likely see Nick first, but having them show up at Amelie's home with Ben answering the door was far more effective. We knew what happened to Amelie in the previous episode, but we didn't know how badly she was hurt. Ben didn't know where she was (she never told Ben's father where she was going when she left).
Actress Tattiawna Jones was amazing as "Amelie".
What an episode!
Poor Ben - he is such a good guy that I hope this isn't the straw that turns him to the other side.
