It Will Be Considered A Classic About 10 Years From Now

Use this space over the next ten years to argue over it. I'll check back over time... This is how Dante movies work.

Gremlins is a classic because is a good movie, this one is pure crap.

reply

It's not at the same level as Gremlins, but hardly crap. This is a pretty fun movie.

Agreed. Burying the Ex is DEFINITELY not crap, IMHO. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This was a great movie, I don't see why so much hate, it is one thousand times better than dance of the dead.

reply

Probably not. This movie was very disappointing. The acting was actually the best part as the story and main character were pretty bad. It's a horror-comedy that isn't scary or funny. It's a bad movie that no one will remember.

Quite the review.

Wow, it's like you speak for everyone. Well, you don't.

I'll remember it. I loved the movie. Others did too. Read the posts.

That's the thing about movie opinions. NO ONE can speak for everyone.

Just watched the movie. It has entertainment value, but it's not likely to become a classic. It reminded me of Idle Hands, that late 90's movie starring Alba and Devon Sawa. Do you consider that a classic?

reply

No. This movie is actually cute and funny.

Loved Daddario with the purple highlights in her hair. So cute. She has always been a fox! It's the main reason why I rented Burying the Ex. No way I would "hump her and dump her" as her character says at one point in the movie.

I'm a big Joe Dante fan, I've seen almost all of his movies, I love Matinee, The Howling, the Gremlins films, but I have to say you're completely wrong, this must be a career low for him, even counting the films he made with Roger Corman (and now I'm really scared to see "Holes"). The script is so awful it's scary, I had to fast-forward it, and I was getting so fed up with the lame story and the character of Anton Yelchin. The writer is probably trying to make a point about people standing up to the truth in relationships and not getting "gonaded" over (or it's just bad writing),but it just grates and grates (it's "stale", like his ex-dead girlfriend).
Speaking as a great B-movie fan and even a Z-movie fan (I have "Missile to the Moon" in DVD), awful characters and situations are inexcusable, even Ed Wood was better than this so called writer. The girls are good actresses, beautiful (with lame characters, though), but even they cannot save this disgrace, I hope he goes back to the good form shown in Masters of Horror, or else his career is "dead" (pun intended).

"The Sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel".

I disagree. It was OK for a one time watch, for free, on Netflix. Daddario is just gorgeous beyond words and was the high point of the "film" for me. If I don't take my life within the next 10 years, I'll check back and see how that Cult is coming along.

or it will be forgotten... but I like it.
