surprisingly not terrible

went into this movie expecting it to be beyond terrible - since the trailers looked like complete s@#t - but really it wasn't that bad actually. sure it's not great: the plot's pretty predictable, some characters can get really annoying and a couple of jokes are frustratingly stupid, but in the end.... even though i didn't grew up with the original German story or the japanese TV show about Maya the Bee, i gotta say: from what i remember from those, there are some scenes in the movie where it really recaptures the spirit of both the TV show and the original story. and the movie has really decent animation so that's plus
