How is this a mystery to anyone?

If you don't understand these cycles you don't understand human nature. What else do you think is going to happen when the lunatics are running the asylum. That the vast majority of political and business "leaders" are literal psychopaths and sociopaths. Everyone knows it will eventually all come tumbling down so that's why you have to get yours while the gettings' good. Why do we overfish fish stocks? Why do we clear cut forests? Why do we strip mine? Why do we frack? We know these are all bad things that lead to disaster in the end yet we continue to do so because it's our nature. It's not the models that need to change, it's mankind. And how do you change instincts that are hardwired to us genetically, created over a couple of million years?
