WW2?

Why does it take place during WW2? The original story with Wendy takes place prior to WW1. Seeing as this is a prequel, this should take place even earlier.

During Blackbeard's speech (when Peter first arrived to the mining camp) to the slave he indicates that all of the salves were taken from different eras/times. So I'm assuming that Neverland time isn't linear to Earth time so even though Peter was taken during WWII he can go to Earth during any era including before the time he spent on Earth.

There was something about it that was inspired by Doctor Who. Spitfires in space almost.

It's that man again!!

I thought that there seemed to be a few WW1 tokens blended in with the WW2 setting. I was getting confused and then I decided to go along with the different era blending of the movie.

Well, as the infamous Blackbeard was alive and pirating well before the 20th and even 19th Centuries, I guess there was a heck of a lot of time warping going on for him to be around collecting boys from the 1930/40s in a gravity defying made-up place.
Also....did anyone notice any girls in the mine? Just boys and men of varying ages?
I also don’t recall Blackbeard being a gothic, cross dressing, Geisha-haired vampire lol! Artistic licence, or he just got called that because he, um, had a black beard.
