How do they get away with this?

I do enjoy this show, but it has to be said it is nothing short of pure left/liberal propaganda. It's presented as some sort of news "discussion" show but how much discussion can take place when all three of the presenters clearly all have the same political viewpoint? I don't understand how this meets Ofcom's impartiality requirements when Adam Hills is allowed to deliver a polemical monologue to camera which then goes completely unchallenged by anyone who may have an opposing view. It's like a left-wing version of "The O'Reilly Factor". Is that OK Adam?

reply

I am most definitely left, but I do found this a bit frustrating. Their views being put across unchallenged can seem a bit smug at times, and is just going to be preaching to the converted. I guess the program probably just falls under the remit of comedy shows, and so doesn't have to adhere to impartiality codes.

reply

They aren't journalists or politicians... They are comedians. They don't have to be impartial. They can have any opinion they like.

reply

As a comedy show, it doesn't have to be impartial as they are giving their own opinion. Comedians often do stand up shows that are basically that. That does change when there's an election on and that can be seen on the election special where they had to stay neutral until the polls closed.

I do agree that it would be nice if they could try seeing the other side once in a while and it's no surprise David Cameron didn't bother going on, why would he? But they're still fairer than Mock the Week which is often just "Tories are ****s, aren't they?" and wait for the laugh.

reply

David Cameron, what happened to him now? Talk about a three week hero..

British TV has a rich history of this type of show.

Peter Cook started his career lampooning Harold McMillan.

Ben Elton spend much of the 1980's lambasting the Thatcher government

Satire does NOT have to be balanced.

"Thank God For Darwin"

Conservatives are such dull people, Especially the fake Bill O'Reilly.

(The real Bill O'Reilly was an Australian wrist spin bowler of the Bradman era).

reply

I don't mind the impartiality; it's when they push a narrative then call anyone who rejects that narrative a hate filled, racist etc etc.

Push your liberal agenda but for fück's sake, tone down the... if you disagree, you're a terrible human.
