What's wrong with the dad??? What's wrong with you?
shareI agree with the original poster. WHAT is wrong with the Dad?! Seriously. Yea we get it, his wife died. But the character was so badly written you have a hard time feeling sorry for him.
He treats his son like garbage in one scene then in the next he's his best buddy who wants to help him. He can't be bothered to take his son to the finals in Japan? He just sleeps all day? It's so unrealistic.
Actually no. I take that back. I could believe that a dad would be so depressed that he doesn't work and sleeps all day and neglects his son. I believe that can and DOES happen. But the bad character writing comes from him changing so quickly.
How he neglects his son and can't even wake up to bring his son to the contest but the next thing you know he's a happy dad again. Then he's depressed again.
Make up your mind!! So stupid.
I think it was someone's belief that his behavior represented depression symptoms: sleeping to escape the world, manic-depressive swings, general moroseness,like he wasn't entitled to be happy because of his wife's death.
