Wait...what?

As the priest was leaving the apartment with the doll, he passes by a black woman in red entering the apartment. I thought she was Alfred Woodard's character and it would be revealed in the end that she lived in the apartment upstairs and was actually the devil in disguise. When she first introduces herself to Mia I SWORE I heard her say Devilyn and not Evelyn, so I immediately thought that she was going to be a bad guy. And when the priest said that the devil would lie to you to get your soul I thought for sure he meant Evelyn. It felt like it was building up to the dramatic reveal of all of these random people being involved and then the most boring ending occurs. I mean...what???? I was expecting so much more.

I was actually expecting the exact same twist. I feel like they wrote it, and dropped it and decided to go with am easier ending.

At no point was it hinted that she was the devil. He passes annabells ghost at the church

reply

That's what I was thinking the whole time!! I knew Evelyn was in on it. Just knew! Until the end, that is.

reply

Wow, that would have been a much better ending.

Otherwise known as a complaint about the film not being predictable.
