what other movies does this remind me of.....

... it kind of reminds me of one or two Japanese movies where people meet strange new friends and go on a travel adventure...like Fine Totally Fine...

it also reminds me of several American films where an uptight person learns to "live it up" in party city, in fact I thought Vijaylakshmi at first might become the Manic Pixie Dreamgirl stereotype, but they changed it around by moving the film away from her, having her have a kid and a job, and helping send money back and forth to her friend in Amsterdam.

but... i guess my final impression is that this is a splendid mashup of various themes and very fun. although you can tell a guy directed it
