Oj simpson

Not sure this has been asked but do you reckon it was this kind of injury that might have sent him a bit mad and killed his wife. Then later did all that other mad stuff?

reply

Knowing what we know now, you'd have to think this is a distinct possibility. But OJ is such a hated figure in many circles, a lot of people are going to respond with anger if you even bring this up. If he has brain damage, that might suggest he's not fully responsible for what he did, and that opens up a whole other can of worms.

reply

I would bet a lot of money that he will be tested after his death and that he will absolutely be found to have CTE.

It may explain his crimes, but won't excuse them.

Javon Belcher had CTE.

reply

OJ was a running back. Running backs do not use their head to hit other players nor do they get hit in the head.

reply

Nor really. Especially back then. Frank Gifford was a running back.

I hope you are kidding. i assume you never played football? The running backs are taking head to head impacts all game. Blocking players and while getting tackled. Jesus christ

Was this a joke?

After seeing the movie, I also wondered about O.J.

I can *almost* understand a murderous rage when it involves lovers, but not the sheer brutality of the crime O.J. committed. Add to that the completely stupid stunt of charging into a guys home/office to "reclaim" his stolen goods and doing it at gunpoint. What sane person does such a thing after being so notorious for murder?

I think Beerguy ^^ is right; they will likely do an autopsy with the specific plan to check for CTE.

reply

Not sure if this is true, but the story goes that OJ has such an abnormally large head, that USC didn't have a helmet that fit him. The only thing they could do was remove some of the protective stuffing out of one.

Something else that's been stated, but not completely clear if its true, OJ's first wife claims he was never abusive and everyone from his youth says the same. He met Nicole toward the end of his playing career. Perhaps the combination of CTE and depression that is common among players in the years after retirement caused to become violent. We know for fact he was abusive of Nicole, and perhaps the anger and jealously fueled his rage to the point of murder.

Not excusing his actions, or saying that he shouldn't still be in jail, but just trying to understand them.

CTE is no joke.

An autopsy performed on Aaron Hernandez showed him to have the worst case of CTE they had ever seen for someone his age. What they never explained was, age aside, how bad he had it. If he had it bad, it would certainly explain his actions. By all accounts, he wasn't like that at all in high school.

I hated Hernandez and wished him all the misery he could have in his 40 years behind bars. I was forced to reevaluate my judgemental attitude when his autopsy was published.

Does O.J. have CTE? Considering the players who have it and claim huge personality changes, particularly those who haven't run afoul of the law or abused anyone, I'm given to believe that O.J.'s personality change could very well be a result of CTE. If it is, it makes the whole case even more of a tragedy.
