Bullseye Killing _____ in the Church *SPOILER*

I was very confused how Bullseye missed Karen when he through the club at her in the church. I thought it was impossible for him to miss? I got some clarity as other people pointed out that Father Lantom jumped in front of her. But I wasn't the only one who was confused by this.

This scene was poorly framed for cinematic effect (as to not give away who died until the shot pulled back). By doing it this way it looked like he accidentally missed, as it showed no last minute movement by Karen or the priest. Also the weapon would've hit Karen's left arm at best, based on the priest's final position/ injury location.
