Umm are your serious? This movie came out in 2014! The mentalist, monk, and whatever came out WAY BEFORE IT. Its not even up for debate this is a blatant rip off of red john. The mentalist is one of the most watched shows of all time and like 8 people saw this movie. And 6 of them were all from the arquette family.

That these real life events happened many years before any of these tv shows came out and that any connection or correlation to anything you have viewed came AFTER the events of this movie? Yes this MOVIE came out much later than the mentalist and others, but if the mentalist is using anything familiar to this case it came from the actual events of this case.
