I came here to say just that - Rose Byrne's performance was too good for this movie.

Well - I really liked it. Just finished watching it and I've still got the smile on my face. After a not so good start it definitely improved and made me happy. Nice ending too. The affair was dealt with in a mature way, by all concerned and was true to life (for those of us who aren't drama queens and can accept that long-term relationships will have a bumpy road at times)

I thought most of the leads were pretty good actually. The material just wasn't there to back them up. A few good metaphors here and there (the 'going backwards makes some people sick' as he's going home to rebuild his life for example), but it just wasn't funny enough to be a comedy or dramatic enough to be a drama. With some better writing this could have been a really good movie.
