did they have sex ????

Did the two boys have sex in the movie?? or they just kissed???

Part of me thinks they may have had sex the night they snuck off during that training week to the beach. Not sure though because the film really didn't touch upon that and I'm actually glad they didn't. It's always nice to see a gay-themed drama without death from AIDS and/or suicide as well as graphic nudity and sexual content just for the sake of including it. I like to think that people are mature enough to watch a film for the actual story, not because it's explicit. This film was definitely a pleasant surprise!

I'd be lying if I said I didn't wonder the same thing, and in fact I think the unrealistic likelihood is that two teen males would want to wait so long before fully enjoying one another sexually. Their need, curiosity and desire would be too great. However, like the poster prior, @DWhitney89, I think it is to the film's credit that it does not make this the story's focus. Instead, it is more interested in portraying the characters' emotional journey as they discover who they are, what they want, and what this relationship means to them, especially for the character of Sieger, who clearly has the more difficult and longer path to accepting his sexuality and himself and acknowledge who he is. I liked that.

I also thought that they had sex that night on the beach. Just by looking closely at Sieg's face upon his return to the bunk, you could definitely tell that he was shaken, scarred, or terrified, while Marc was looking self-assured. Naturally, I imagined something "new" happened to Sieg that night that terrified him, and I don't think it's the kissing (he was smiling on his way home after he received his first kiss from Marc). After the track team alighted the bus, Sieg did not even bother to say goodbye to Marc, which emphasizes how uncomfortable he was with him at that moment.

However, that one scene in the bus where Marc sleeps on Sieg's shoulder contradicts my assumption...

It's interesting to hear people's opinions on something you think you know inside and out. I have watched this movie a large number of times just in the last fortnight - a little addicted - and only in the last few viewings did I see Sieg's expression on returning from the beach. To me his expression is one of shock, or even disbelief, but Marc's face did not look self assured. He seemed to glance at Sieg as if making sure he was alright.

This part of the movie is definitely a turning point, but I don't think whether or not they fooled around, or went further than kissing, is important knowledge to have. From the scenes we saw it was already obvious that Sieger was falling pretty hard for Marc, and he was realising this and it obviously scared him a lot.

The next morning when they're having breakfast you see Sieg jump out of his skin because he had been staring at Marc when Stef spoke to them. With Sieg not saying goodbye to Marc, my feeling was that he really wanted to go with him and be with him but didn't want to make Stef suspicious.

Like I say I've seen this movie a lot and think about it a lot, haha, so it's nice to hear other peoples viewpoints :)

On the inside, I'm a poet. Outside? Shake bad guys, shake.

I don't think so. I never got the idea that happened. I think the story was more about them connecting emotionally. They kiss obviously but I think they would be apprehensive about doing much more..especially Sieg. He's not sure what he really wants..so I don't think he would be ready for anything more.

Like the posters above me mention, there are some very subtle hints that something may have happened between Seig and Marc on the night at the beach. I respect the filmmakers for not digging too much into that and instead focus on the complexity of realising at a young age that you're falling in love with your male friend.

Seig may have experienced sex with Marc that night and been scared afterwards, but he also may have been frightened at the fact that he was in love. I guess it's up to the viewer to decide that.

Personally, I don't mind both of those theories. I find them equally sweet and natural.
