In the Annals of Modern Horror (SPOILERS)...
...I do not believe I have come across a group of people so darn stupid. The male characters took the Darwin Award naturally but the females come in close for going along with the moronic plan to go way off road to some place that has a terrible reputation and could very well be home to some sort of life threatening entity.
Once the female leads found out about the true nature of the trip (they at least thought they were going to a beach resort) the plug should have been pulled. "No sex till you get us home" or some sort of threat!
The lead male, Jason, was a complete moron. His buddy Donkey was not far from being a special needs person. Why the girls were even with these buffoons was a mystery.
In the good old fashioned monster movies from the 1920's-1950's ordinary people stumbled upon the monsters. Nowadays ordinary people go looking for the monsters! Monsters have it good these days. Dinner is delivered!
