My review

There are no less than 3 slender man movies coming out this year. This one, Beware the Slenderman (2016), and The Slender Man. The story has gained quite a bit of popularity the last few years, especially through the Creepypastas, and I guess everyone is deciding that now is the time to cash in.

This one however falls quite short of the mark. It's about a group of twenty somethings making a documentary about a woman who lost her children 5 years previous and believes they were taken by a tall thin man with octopus arms and no face. Guess who? Anyways it's very boring with a way too long build-up and no real payoff which is kind of sad since it had some good ideas but just didn't execute them well.

I'm usually the last one to complain about bad acting in FF movies but I mean this one was really bad. Also the stupid and horrible mean choices the characters make near the end (one in particular) just make no sense. Also at least a third of the movie is filmed with a smartphone which is held upright instead of widescreen, which everyone knows by now is the right way to hold it, leaving us with just a small sliver of video. Ridiculous.

All in all a bitter disappointment 2/10.
